I don't use Tumblr myself, but on all other markdown-using sites that I'm familiar with (StackExchance included), the syntax. Bullet two gives the result you're looking for as far as generating correct HTML is concerned: Bullet one. I put things here that I like. I'm a doctoral candidate living in Atlanta, Georgia. If you have worked on any GitHub repo, you would have surely seen a README.md file, this is the markdown file where you can describe your repo. Markdown is easy to learn. It is helpful in writing questions on forums like StackOverflow, useful in commenting on Pull Request in Github, etc. See more posts like this on Tumblr. More you might like.
