This phone can do a lot for the price, offering a lot of hidden features. To top it all, it has a brilliant camera. It's definitely one of the best cameras I have ever seen on a budget device so far.

While the Redmi Note 5 can really breeze through business as usual. There are a number of hidden features, specifically for its camera.

Here, we are going to tell you about 9 such essential Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro camera tips and tricks that you must know.

No, we're not talking about any third-party apps, all these features are on its very own camera app and will definitely help you ace your photography game.

1. Some Pretty Slick Image Stabilization

Xiaomi's Redmi Note 5 Pro is one of the very few phones in the budget-price category to feature EIS or Electronic Image Stabilization. However, by default, this setting is disabled on the device.

To enjoy all the benefits of this brilliant camera, enabling image stabilization is one of the first things you should do.

To enable this: Open the camera app and head over to Video> Camera Settings > Image stabilization and toggle the switch on.

Note: Image stabilization only works in the video mode.

2. Easily Remember Your Last-used Settings

Users love shooting videos, selfies, pictures, or even capturing panoramic pictures on their phone. However, the moment you turn that camera app off, it resets back to its default mode. With the Note 5 Pro, you can forget about this problem.

It'll remember your last-used settings, provided you want it to use it again. Once done clicking a shot, all you need to do is find out what piques your interest the most and forget about losing your settings every time you start that camera app.

This mode works for both the rear as well as the front camera. Therefore, it makes sense to enable this feature right away.

To enable this: Open the camera app and head over to Photo > Camera Settings > Enhance lowlight photos automatically and toggle the switch on.

4. Easy One-handed Focus

It's quite annoying when you have to stretch your arm all the way to take a picture and, at the very last moment, you realize that the camera requires a gentle tap on the screen to focus on the subject.

Well, there is a hidden feature in the camera settings to take care of this problem easily. All you need is to enable the focus function for the Press & hold Shutter button feature.

6. Fingerprint Shutter for Easy Selfies

Taking selfies is great fun but not when you have to stretch out your thumb in order to reach for that shutter button on the screen. Yes, you can always say cheese or use the smile shutter feature but we all know how inaccurate or useless that is.

Instead, you can have a dedicated shutter button using the fingerprint sensor at the back. Now, whenever you are taking a selfie, just tap on the fingerprint sensor and you're done.

To enable this: Open the camera app and head over to Photo > Camera Settings > Fingerprint shutter and toggle the switch on.

7. Custom Volume Key Function for the Camera

Volume keys that are mostly useless while capturing images can be put to some good use while taking images with the Redmi Note 5 Pro.

You can choose from a number of options, including using them as a dedicated shutter key, zoom key or as volume controllers. Although I'm not really sure what purpose will the volume control serve while capturing images ... uninterrupted music playback, perhaps.

8. Focus and Shoot with the Shutter Button

One way of focusing with the shutter button is by holding it for a few seconds. But, if you do not have that kind of patience or if you don't like it then there's another way you can focus using the shutter button.

Hidden inside the camera settings is the Focus & shoot option. If you enable this, you get the option to focus on the subject before you capture that image. Press the shutter button once to focus and press it again to capture that image.

To enable this: Open the camera app and head over to Photo > Camera Settings > Focus & shoot and toggle the switch on.

9. Manual Contrast, Saturation, and Sharpness Settings

Another cool feature of the Redmi Note 5 Pro is the manual control over contrast, saturation, and sharpness before capturing an image. You can give a neat finish to your images by playing around with these settings or you can simply improve the way they look.

Apple iPhone X Rip-off

No matter what the company says about the design philosophy, the camera on the Redmi Note 5 Pro looks pretty much the same as the one on the iPhone X. Personally, I do not have any problem with that as far as I'm getting a good functional camera at a bare minimum price.

It should actually be a learning for the bigger brands, which could have offered devices at a much cheaper price point. But instead, chose not to.

In the end, all I would like to do is commend Xiaomi for doing a brilliant job at copying a much-wanted design and offering great features and functionalities with it. Kudos!
